Senior engineers
shipping real infrastructure.
We're a small team building the messaging layer for the next decade of software. If you care about DX, craft, and infrastructure that quietly works, we should talk.
How we work
Six principles
we hire against.
Small team, high trust.
Fewer people, more ownership. Everyone ships, everyone reviews, everyone talks to customers. No managers of managers, no siloed specs.
Writing is the job.
Design docs, RFCs, public changelogs, postmortems. If it's not written down, it didn't happen. Clear thinking on paper beats fast code without it.
Remote-first, deeply async.
We work from wherever is already your home. Overlap 3 hours / day with the rest of the team, then ship on your own clock.
Craft > velocity.
We care about the long tail — the latency at p99, the error message at 3am, the onboarding flow for the five-person startup. Move fast, yes, but never at the cost of the boring hard parts.
The product is real.
Every engineer uses send0 to send email for their own projects. We eat our own dog food, then we ship the dog food everyone else can eat.
Compounding curiosity.
Deliverability, distributed systems, SMTP, carrier routing, WhatsApp internals — there's a lifetime of weird engineering in this space. Bring genuine curiosity.
What we offer
Real equity,
real time off.
We try to make the obvious parts obviously good, so you can focus on the interesting part — the work itself.
Competitive comp + equity
Market-rate salary plus meaningful equity. Everyone on the team is an owner.
Fully remote, great gear
Top-of-line laptop, monitor, desk, chair — whatever you need to do focused work from your space.
Four weeks off + holidays
Unlimited time off with a four-week minimum we actually enforce. Plus local holidays and a winter shutdown.
Quarterly team offsites
Four times a year we meet in person for a week of strategy, hacking, and real conversation. Travel and stay on us.
Open roles
We're hiring slowly
and intentionally.
No open roles right now.
We open a role when we have a concrete project that would move meaningfully faster with one more person on it. That means listings go up rarely, but when they do, they're real.
Interested anyway?
Send us a note. We read every one.
